Listening To Your Body

Listening to my body was a new step for me. I was taught that protein was 'good food', and that plants were 'low calorie', and fats were 'bad food'. I remember knowing how to count calories by age 10 or so. Listening to my body was irrelevant. And our food was every artificial color of the rainbow, daily: puddings, jello, kool-aid, candy, frosting, Lucky Charms, jelly beans, medications, flavored milk, Orange Soda, ice cream, etc. etc. We did have

"square meals"; but we had to sit there… Continue

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)

I had no idea how much high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) could affect how we feel and our behavior. Or how ubiquitous it is in our food!

I had HFCS all the time, before pregnancy. But, after all of our son's food intolerances and nursing, I had so many benefits from not eating it. I know our son is much more keyed up when he consumes HFCS. We've been able to find many preferable products which do not contain HFCS, such as popsicles, juice, cereal, beverages, candy,…

Amalgam Removal Risks and Protocols.

I have 10 amalgams, I'm very cautious/concerned about the removal benefits, and risks. If I were trying to conceive within 18-24 months, I would NOT have even one mercury filling removed and absolutely not by a regular dentist. There is a big dump of stored mercury into blood circulation about 3-6 months after removal and again around a year, per my understanding.

Basically, the body "chelates" itself (into breastmilk, fetus, etc) during the first few months after…

Motion Sickness

Ginger - Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is one of the more popular natural remedies for motion sickness. It has been used for centuries in cooking and medicinally.

Acupressure - According to traditional Chinese medicine, pressing on an acupuncture point called "pericardium 6" (P6) may relieve nausea and motion

sickness. The point is located on the inside of the forearm, about two

inches above the crease of the wrist.

A person can press on the point using… Continue

Heat Rash

Perspiration helps to regulate your body temperature by cooling you down as it evaporates through your skin. Donning tight-fitting clothes in fabrics such as nylon and polyester traps sweat and heats up your skin, causing it to swell and plug sweat ducts. Heat…

Poison Ivy

We tried everything homeopathic and topical. Rhus Tox is indicated, I believe. We sprayed it on, pellets, too. Lidocaine spray helped but is very cold. My sister suggested Clearasil Plus, it dried the rash more rapidly. Gross, but anything was better than steroids. Calamine/Caladryl helps some. But with a large body area, that is benedryl absorbing into the body. Epsom salt soaks will also dry it. Or as a compress. Calendula topically as a wash is generally very… Continue

Heat Exhaustion

Heat exhaustion is caused by water depletion (dehydration), or in rare cases—rare because of Americans' typically high-salt diets—by salt depletion. (We lose salt along with our sweat.)

Thirst is likely to be the first symptom, followed by loss of appetite, headache, pallor, dizziness, and a general flulike feeling that may include nausea and

even vomiting. In more extreme cases, the heart may race and

concentration may become more difficult.

Hopefully,…

Head Injury

Your active child may receive a good wallop on the head as she runs, climbs and plays, but as long she is up and running again after the injury, it is not likely that she has sustained serious damage.

You should watch her for the next 24 hours, though, since the symptoms of a serious head injury…
