Lyme

My friend's daughter found a bullseye rash, here was my initial research regarding lyme and alternative treatments.

Transmission is quite rare, with only about 1% of recognized tick bites resulting in Lyme disease. Acute neurological problems, which appear in 15% of untreated patients, encompass a spectrum of disorders. Chronic neurologic symptoms occur in up to 5% of untreated patients.

[Wondering what percentage of TREATED patients end up with acute disorders and chronic… Continue

Glutathione 101

Glutathione 101 - "A primary phase II detoxification route is conjugation with glutathione (a tripeptide composed of three amino acids--cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine). Glutathione conjugation produces water-soluble mercaptates which are excreted via the kidneys. The elimination of fat-soluble compounds, especially heavy metals like mercury and lead, is dependent upon adequate levels of glutathione, which in turn is dependent upon adequate levels of methionine and cysteine.…

Fruit & Veggie Wash - homemade recipe

Found this recipe for homemade fruit & veggie wash:

  • 8 oz. water

  • 1 T. lemon juice
  • 2 T. baking soda

Combine ingredients (make sure that you mix the vinegar & water before adding the baking soda so that you don’t have a science project on your hands. We all remember the volcano effect, right?). Pour

mixture into spray bottle. Use the mixture to wash all of your fruits

& veggies. For items like…

Eye Injuries

Eye Injuries Treatment

Self-Care at Home

  • Chemical exposures: The single most important thing to do for chemical exposures is to immediately wash out the eye with great amounts of water. Although saline solution is best, regular tap water is a perfectly

acceptable alternative. Particularly, for more serious burning materials, such as acid or alkali, time is of the essence. The affected eye should be washed for 20 minutes or more. It is important that you…

Diarrhea

Bacteria in food or protozoa in water are often the cause, but other causes are viruses,

parasites in food and other sources. Diarrhea caused by intestinal parasites is the third leading cause of illness.

Gastroenteritis, caused by a virus that has entered the digestive tract or contaminated food or water,

causes inflammation, cramping, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Severe cases can… Continue

Cuts, Scrapes

Stop the bleeding. The fastest way to stop bleeding is to apply direct pressure. Place a clean, absorbent cloth—a bandage or a towel—over the cut, then press your hand against it firmly. If you don't have a cloth, use your fingers. This will usually stop the bleeding within a minute or two. If blood soaks through your first bandage, add a second one and press steadily. Add new bandages over old ones because removing a cloth may tear off coagulating blood cells.…

Here are a few alternatives.

An old timey solution we used was Burow's Solution. It is Aluminum Acetate resulting from the reaction of

Calcium acetate and Aluminum Sulfate. It is buffered. I imagine it is the sulfate which helps, similar to Epsom salts which is magnesium sulfate.
