Healthy poop doesn't have a strong odor. Most people assume otherwise because our SAD diet is so unhealthy in our digestive system.

The overgrowth of bacteria, often from food sitting too long in the gut is what is responsible for the odor developing. So, odoriferous gas and stool is an indicator of slow transit and 'putrefaction' of undigested food in the gut.

When one eats foods which are quickly digested by the enzymes and stomach acid and bile and microbials, the odor causing bacteria don't develop, essentially. But most of us don't chew food adequately to mix in the enzymes for predigestion, most of us have inadequate stomach acid (40% of Americans are on antacids), most of us are not consuming foods which promote healthy bile production (artichokes and bitter herbs), and most of us have inadequate microbials in our sterilized, processed and preservative laden diets.

So, if your poop stinks...

here are 10 easy ways to improve the odor of your stool. :-)

      1. RAW apple cider vinegar
      2. chew your food well
      3. condiment of ferments with meals
      4. avoid liquids with meals
      5. eat artichokes and bitter herbs (nettles infusions)
      6. avoid antacids
      7. avoid artificial preservatives
      8. avoid dairy and gluten (difficult to digest)
      9. consume adequate zinc (pumpkin seeds)
    10. consume adequate magnesium (nettles infusions)

I have a question... my 6 year old just had green poop! I've never seen anything like it before. It was formed but very green. He doesn't eat any kind of food dye. I'm really curious. He eats seaweed occasionally & has chlorophyll in water but this has never happened before. Any ideas?

Dairy and spinach have had that effect here.

That's good to know. Thank you!

Lydia, I wanted to clarify, green poop with dairy is inflammation/abnormal, ime. Green poop with spinach is fine and generally due to consuming a large quantity.
