Anna has a blog post that is about wild crafting. You can find that here

I remember as a small child, my mom sending me outside with a knife and a paper bag, to harvest dandilion greens from the yard. Being careful not to get ones that have already budded or bloomed as they have an added bitterness. We would have those for supper, yum!! Although if I remember right, as a child I did not like greens. LOL, and I think of them fondly as here in NC our dandilions are not as plentiful and certainly not as large and gorgeous. And I struggle to get enough for a meal. We also harvest wild blackberries now. As a child we had wild blueberries, YUM!! and Rhubarb. My grandmother had some rhubarb near her house in Maine, when she crossed over I dug up a clump and transplanted it here and it has been growing wonderfully, and reminding me of her. Although I guess transplanted plants aren't "wild" anymore, LOL.
I love the idea of wild foods and foraging, maybe an idea for another group ;-) I do have a "guide to NC plants" type of book that I take with me hiking.

Me, Me!! :) I wish there was someone near me who did foraging walks. I've dabbled a bit but still have a lot to learn. I love the idea of it though!

Pam,
Thanks for directing me to Anna's wildcrafting blog, and
Anna,
if this is your blog (?), perhaps we can continue the discussion there? I'm not that savvy on how these things work - - which would be best? A discussion there or here?
Anyway, I'm in the Pacific Northwest, but many of the plants are pretty universal (I even belong to a wildfoods blog/newsletter that originates in the UK) - - such as the blackberries Pam mentioned - - there's too many to pick here - - I made jams, syrups, wine, pies etc... this last year; 'stocked my freezer, and there were still just as many left on the vine...
I've also been interested in wildfoods since childhood; this was a way for our family to extend our groceries... I've really gotten back into it now, and hope to explore it more in depth as the focus of a doctoral program I'm applying to (hopefully I'll be accepted) - - either way, I look forward to sharing information, experimenting with recipes, etc... :D
I would personally like to see it as a group, where more people could join and we can share thoughts and ideas, but it is up to you Barbara.

Sorry I missed the follow-up. I've clicked "follow" now so should be all set. I like the idea of a group too Pam. We are in "forums" now right? I'm terrible at this - LOL! A group would be easy to find and follow. Can we do that or do I need to have Pat do it?
Spring will be here soon and I can't wait to start foraging again!
~Anna
I am pretty sure we can do that. I saw a new group started by a member, I think the Kombucha one, so I think members can start groups. If you start one Anna I will join, or I can start one if you like, either way is fine with me.

I just started a wildcrafting group, it is pending approval so should show up shortly.
