Bone broth is wonderful for healing colds and flus!

Bone broth is easy. Roast a chicken, put the carcass in a pot of water, simmer for 1-2 days. Strain, use as soup, or for cooking rice, pasta, gravy or drink it straight. We have a cup of broth for the minerals each morning. Use only organic or pastured chickens or 100% grass-fed beef bones. You can just add the whole chicken to a large pot, simmer a couple of hours, the meat will fall off the bone, then leave the bones to simmer for 1-2 days.

I roast a whole chicken on Saturdays. Costco has the cheapest whole organic chicken that I've found.

Can I just put a frozen chicken in the crock pot or do I have to thaw it and roast it? Also, I have cleaned up some chicken feet...can I throw them in there? Is there a point where you can simmer it too long?

I've done frozen chicken in the crock-pot before... no problem.

And yes on the chicken feet. They are a GREAT source of gelatin/collagen-- good for guts and joints, etc.

I found some organic pork neck bones and some organic, local lamb leg bones, I'm going to make a rabbit  for tomorrow and add all the bones together to make a bone broth! I love my bone broth!

I have made chicken broth for years, but would like to make beef broth....any tips or suggestions?

I like to roast the beef bones first; it makes them a little sweeter. They should not boil vigorously, or be covered tightly. I prop the lid with a chopstick.
