Favorite ones to buy or Favorite Recipe?

I need something the is not too smelly,  even with natural stuff I am sensitive to strong smells.

I am currently using ACV as a rinse with alternating between a bar of soap I made (but am not happy with the recipe) or Baby Castile Soap.  They are both unscented.   But I am not thrilled with the results.   My hands feel funny after with both and my scalp is very dry. 

I have had a lot of trouble getting coconut oil into my scalp with out having the greasiest hair for weeks b/c of it.   So I wont be trying that anymore. 

I also am working on Dry Skin with Diet and herbs slowly,  One of the reasons I left Poo is becuase it was making my skin worse but what I am doing now is making my scalp worse....

Have you tried doing the baking soda for "wash" and ACV for "rinse"?  I do 1 tsp (short hair) and have recently just done water washes daily (because of the short hair bed head mostly) and been able to stretch the baking soda/ACV to every 4 days.  

I have very dry hair also.  Also have very short hair, so need to do daily rinses for my "bed head".  :-(  

Please correct me if I am wrong, but am figuring that ACV stands for Apple Cider Vinegar?  Will not try this until I hear for sure.  Thank You.

 

Yes, ACV  is apple cider vinegar.

My hair is ok  but my scalp is very dry. 

I have read that the Baking Soda can make hair brittle.  I have very fine hair and am nervous about it being to harsh.    

Also have heard bad about it in general  so just haven't gone there yet.  

I don't wash hair daily,  I try to go every other just b/c I can't shower that often b/c it washes to many good oils off my skin.

Hmmm, haven't heard that about baking soda.  What other bad things have you heard?  I use it in a lot of stuff - for toothpaste, deodorant, in my hair, so I'm curious if you don't mind me asking.

I haven't had any drying out issues, but only use 1 tsp every 3-4 days.  Sorry I don't have any help for the shampoo bar part.

She's someone I know IRL.  She makes great soaps and she could do it without fragrance.  You can just custom order what you want.  We love the Nettles Shampoo Bar.

I would also be interested in hearing  what the problem is with baking soda. I don't use it on my hair, but I use it for teeth ( whole family does) and as a facewash and I love the way it makes my skin feel .My 2 older dd's ( 23 & 19) also use it as face wash and love it.  I would also like to hear ideas for natural shampoo. I do use dr. bonners bar soap for younger kids but they are boys with very short hair so it works.

I've been "no poo" with my hair for about two years. The important thing is to keep your scalp moist. If the baking soda and/or ACV are drying it out, you might try double-checking what your ratio is of each, dissolved in water before applying to the head.

I have found that olive oil, coconut oil and tea tree oil (diluted) is about all I need for skin care.  I keep a bottle of olive oil (poured into a bottle like stylists use when coloring hair) in the shower. After showering, I turn the water off and cover myself in olive oil before toweling dry. It really keeps my skin soft.

A few weeks ago I read that someone has been using honey and another ingredient for shampoo. Can't find it at this moment but am looking for it.
