I would love to hear if there is an allergen free cookbook any of you would highly recommend.  Especially a baked goods cookbook that doesn't substutute the allergen foods for sugar to make it tasty:)

I have looked at Cybele Pascal's cookbook and didn't love it.  My son is rather particular and the foods were not to his taste, though I haven't tried her baked goods book.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Jaime, I have several books that I use, but what is your son allergic to? We have multiple allergies at our house, and some books are very specific to a particular allergen (ie, eggs, gluten, dairy)

We have had good success with Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World by Isa Chandra Moskowitz. This book has great tasting cupcake recipes, and my kids like picking out the ones they want me to bake. It's good for egg, dairy and nut allergies (just exclude the recipes for nuts). There are also a few gluten free cupcake recipes.

Hope this helps.

Peggy
Hi Peggy,
Thank you for the cupcake book suggestions. We are dealing with a moderate allergy to wheat/gluten, dairy, and egg whites. It has been quite challenging lately. This diagnosis came about 3-4 months ago. Two IgE tests have confirmed it. I feel like I need to figure out how to cook and bake all over again!
Hang in there . . . it really does get easier (we've been doing allergy-free for over 9 years now)! You really do have to relearn how to cook, but I believe you and your family will be healthier in the long run.

One website I'd also like to suggest is http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com. So many helpful hints and suggestions on this site, and excellent recipes for entrees as well as desserts (though we mostly use the dessert ones). It's so much easier to find recipes you can modify on-line. I have piles of allergy cookbooks, and sadly only use a handful of recipes from each one.

I hope your children will be able to outgrow some of their allergies. In the meantime, good luck with your new cooking adventures!

Peggy

Thanks for the link suggestion. That site is on my facebook page, but I have never gone on her regular site. I will now.
I am so thrilled, my son is loving the new King Arthur GF bread. I make it with oil and the applesauce/baking powder egg substitute. He even likes it un toasted. I thing down!

This is a product and not a cookbook.  Believe it or not this is a gluten-free and ultra healthy cake mix that is so delicious.  I have served it to guests and everybody loved it.  I buy three at a time.  The company is owned by a couple that is so into healthy eating.  As a nutritionist and a member of Weston Price, I don't have one issue from this mix.
