~ Food Has Power ~
The Lara bars have inspired me. I have a gorp mix which I take whenever we leave the house - instant portable nutrition. So, I finally made the Lara bars with dates (remember to remove the seeds, they are hard on your food processor. ask me how I know...) and tossed in my gorp mix. OH MY!! fabulous!! delicious!! Amazing!
There was some old Chinese theory of food that we should eat a variety of 31 different foods every day.
So, I counted and there were 15 different foods in my Lara bar! I figure, if I can make a couple of different versions of Lara bars with 10 foods each, we could have a HUGE variety of nutrients very conveniently.
I could do this with smoothies and meatloaf and spaghetti sauce and bone broth and ??? What other foods are easy to combine/hide many different foods?
Any favorite combo/recipes where we can Take Ten Foods and make a delicious treat. We already make cookies with spinach and have started adding spinach to burritos. But, a big combo of grated veggies could be added to many foods. I know I toss in many veggies and meats into my bone broth and I could add veggies and organ meats to my meatloaf or spaghetti sauce...
Other "Deceptively Delicious" ideas?? (I haven't seen the book yet, but it sounds resourceful!)

You just put (room temperature) seedless dates into the food processor and grind that up. Then add all the gorp mix (mixed nuts and berries) at once and just pulse it so that the bits are not pulverized to puree, lol. Then press firmly into a square container and refrigerate. I cut them into squares and wrapped in parchment paper to bring along on our trip.
I add pumpkin seeds, walnuts, pecans, almonds, peanuts and dried goji berries, blueberries, mulberries, gooseberries, dates, coconut flakes, cranberries, raisins, and sunflower seeds, and of course the 70% Ghiradelli chocolate chips!

I've been putting an assortment of veggies in my spaghetti sauce for years...I slow cook the tomato sauce and veggies then use the immersion blender to hide the evidence. Now I add bone broth and organ meat too!
