~ Food Has Power ~
We all spend far too much time doing close-up work, generally staring at the computer screen all day, and our eyes are paying the price.
Our eyes are meant to be used for "all seeing" - both near and far, but with our lifestyles and technological gadgets, we wind up being out of balance by using our "near" ability way too much - at the expense of our "far" ability.
If you find your eyes just don't work like they used to, try exercising them throughout the day - strengthen the "far" muscles and lessen the tightness on the "near" muscles. Your eyes will thank you and you may even have fewer eyestrain headaches.
While there are a myriad of eye exercises you can do, the ones below are fast and easy - both to remember and actually DO, throughout your day!
Work these exercises into your routine during the day - ideally once per hour - to prevent and relieve your eyestrain:
Note: if you wear glasses, take them off to do these exercises - it will give your eyes just a bit more rest and allow those unused muscles to get a slight workout!
Now, if your eye muscles are really tight you might find it difficult to roll your eyes in all directions comfortably. Like all new exercises, go slowly, honor your body/eyes and gently bring them back into balance. Be wise with this or any exercise - things didn't get lax overnight, you can't expect them to get fixed in "the blink of an eye"!
Finally, for a soothing and calming treatment for those overworked eyes, try homeopathic Computer Eye Drops, made by Similisan - they are wonderful when your eyes feel sore, pulled too tight, and generally fatigued. I keep a bottle next to my computer screen and after doing a few exercises, I put a drop in each eye and then relax for a few minutes. Certainly these aren't a substitute for responsible eye care, but when you need a little extra boost, they are wonderful!
