~ Food Has Power ~
Happy New Year and welcome new members! I know I haven't posted in a while but I found something so cool last night that many of you may have already tried. I dry brushed my body before showering.
Now I have had this brush for maybe three years and never remembered using it. (I know it's a shame. I bought it on a whim.) Yesterday I was flipping through a natural catalog and came across an article on dry brushing and thought, "hmmm, I have one of those brushes, I'm gonna brush it up tonight." Let me tell you something ladies. This brushing thing is raspberry jam on buttered toast! (That's Shekinah talk for "wonderful")
Normally during the winter months I suffer from dry, itchy skin. I decided to try something new this winter and that was taking my baths and showers in luke warm water instead of hot. I'm cold natured so hot would be my choice but I found when I bathe in hot my skin gets dryer and itchier no matter how much lotion I put on. The lukewarm water was an adjustment, but being able to be itch free has made all the difference. And now the dry brushing was just the icing on the cake. My skin felt so much softer that I didn't even need lotion. And let me tell you nearly all black people need lotion! Especially in the winter! I'll use some coconut oil to moisturize today. If anyone knows anything more about dry brushing please speak up. I’m already a fan I just wanna know more if there is any info.
Happy Brushing!

I love my dry brush too! I'm not always great about using it but notice a huge difference when I do.
I don't know anything about this site but this article looks like it contains the same things I've read about dry brushing over the years.

A few months ago I started dry-brushing and I truly believe that it helped me to loose some pounds, too.
I've got a dry brush I purchased about a year ago. I used it in the shower wet which did not do much. It makes perfect sense to use it dry to remove flaky skin! I'm starting a "dry brush program" tonight! And, will be mosturizing with coconut oil afterwards. Thanks, Shekinah!
