I was wondering whether anybody can help figure out what is going on in my body:
About a year ago I did a live blood cell test and, among other things, it revealed that my body was quite acidic.
The doctor gave me alkaline, which I took every day when the test strip showed high acidity levels.
I cut out all refined sugars and kept testing. It got a little better and after some months I stopped testing and taking the Alkaline.
Now I got another roll of the test strips and find that the level is even more acidic than it ever was!
I'm eating a very healthy diet, at least so I thought:
Vegetarian, almost vegan, with some consumption of local raw cheese and local pastured eggs.
Green smoothie (kale, carrots, other greens etc.) every day. Water kefir every day. Lots of fruits and vegetables, mostly self-made whole grain spelt bread. My weakness are sweets, and even though I never use refined sugar in my bakings, I still consume quite a lot of maple syrup/honey.
I also have a zinc deficiency (shows as white spots on my nails).
Could it be that I have too little stomach acid which interferes with zinc absorbency?
Could these two things be related?
I'm at my wits end and don't know what to do or what to change.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!
