I've been having a kefir smoothie  for lunch with an egg added most times, vanilla and nutmeg add to the flavour; I have not tried adding greens as yet.  Any leftover makes afternoon tea.  For breakfast we have juice from orange, apple, carrot, celery, sometimes with beetroot.  Will try some greens.

Can't believe that difference that a little cinnamon and ginger made in my spinach and peach smoothie - YUM!

We really need to get to the grocery store to have more greens on hand - we've just moved in to my aunt's house & alas she is more of a canned foods person than I have ever been. I brought kale with us & that is the ONLY fresh green here, so we had scrambled eggs with cheese & kale for breakfast today.

I was also out of spinach today so instead I made a carrot, apple smoothie....YUM!

Basic smoothie recipe:

*2 cups liquid (coconut water, water, juice, kefir, nettles, milks, etc)

*2 cups greens (rotate: spinach, kelp, Romaine, spring mix, asparagus, etc - use organic)

*1 cup frozen fruit (berries, mango, bananas, peaches, etc - use organic)

*1-2 tablespoon of fat (avocado, coconut oil, cream, ghee, nut butter, etc.)

*1/4 cup protein (pastured egg, nuts, seeds, nut butter, sprouts, liver, etc.)

*1/4 cup of whole food probiotics (kefir, kombucha, yogurt)

*1/4 teaspoon herbs or spices (cinnamon, cayenne, turmeric, kelp, ginger, etc.)

(Optional) sweetener (honey, maple syrup)

i love to add nut butter for flavor and avacado to really smooth out the texture, without a smooth texture those smoothies can be hard to get down

My most simple smoothie recipe is 2 cups of organic, baby spinach + 2 cups of frozen fruit in the blender with water.

Smoothies are the easiest way for us to incorporate many greens, as I can vary the greens and vary the fruit! You can add a bit of sweetener, honey or pure maple syrup, as needed. Or use 100% juice or fresh juice for the liquid.

(most) any blender will work, just puree the greens with the liquid BEFORE adding the frozen fruit. green juice or green smoothies are fine. fresh or frozen fruit are fine.
