~ Food Has Power ~
I am brand new to this and am still figuring out how to avail myself of all you have to offer. I am interested in dealing with RA. I was diagnosed 10 years+ ago, and went into remission until recently. I am currently 53. I have not gone back to a dr, so I am assuming that I am experiencing a flare based on prior experience. It mostly is confined to hands and feet. I hesitate conventional dr because I do not want to go on drugs, and that was all they had to offer previously, and from what I read not much has changed.
I am physically fit, at a healthy weight and eat well - raw milk, grass fed pastured meats, organic as much as possible. I have recently consulted with an ayurvedic nutritionist and have made some diet modifications and am taking herbal supplements along with krill oil, astaxanthin, ubiquinol. I am still taking ibuprofen occaisionally so I guess the herbs are not enough for me. I am thinking about seeing a funtional medicine doctor - (along the lines of Mark Hyman).

Natural Alternatives for Joint pain.
Here are 218 medical research articles from the US National Library of Medicine regarding natural substances and arthritis, and 64 specific to rheumatoid arthritis. Specifically, I'd consider:
I will say YES to the essential oils (for pain as needed) I have joint pain in my ankle and I don't want to promote any one company over the other I believe the blend that I used had Wintergreen, Camphor,Peppermint,Blue Tansy, German Chamomile, Helichrysum, & Osmanthus. Relieved my pain instantly, but I did have to apply as needed. It is the only thing that has helped me for pain besides the anti-inflammatory meds which I no longer take.
Staying away from inflammatory foods helps me (white rice, flour, sugar) and STRESS! Stress makes it so much worse. I also do not consume gluten.
I can't wait to try Nettles!!
