Has anyone combined Brewer with WAPF? I am not taking prenatals this pregnancy, and I am really struggling with food aversions. If this doesn't fit with the forum, let me know, but I am looking for advice and support on dealing with food aversions and hypoglycemia, without supplements (other than sodium ascorbate, which does help me), during pregnancy. I want to make sure I get optimal nutrition for the next 8 months!

Yeah, beans just don't seem to cut it for me right now, either. Most meat is a little heavy, but I can eat lamb and I have a good source for it. I gained a lot last time, so I gain no problem, just can't seem to feel full and comfortable.
Here's my update (It is unlikely that you were on the edge of your seat, I know):

I started with the assumption that I have hypoglycemia, which is exacerbated during pregnancy but is probably there all the time. I have worked very hard on my diet since my last pregnancy, so the fact that my hunger and sleeplessness were not responding to any dietary practices had me very frustrated.

My friend Pamela suggested that Candida is often associated with hypoglycemia, because it interferes with the uptake of nutrients in the gut. That seemed logical because I believe I have had problems with Candida in the past, and I had a course of antibiotics about 2 years ago for a staph infection. I began researching ways to beat Candida.

Then Pat suggested that, if I was already following a diet protocol that should have beat the Candida into submission before this pregnancy, then the Candida might actually be a symptom of mercury toxicity rather than a vestige of a gut flora imbalance caused by previous factors. This seemed logical because I have 4 fillings, one of which I had replaced a few years ago (I know, chagrin, I was overwhelmed at the dentist's office and didn't stand my ground), and I certainly had routine vaccinations as a child and teen. I would love some more research or clinical data on the relationship between yeast and mercury.

Given that I don't want to risk mobilizing mercury during my pregnancy, I am focusing on managing my gut with nutrition, but without any chelating foods and without wiping out the Candida.

I have (mostly) cut out dairy and wheat for the duration of my pregnancy, stepped up my green(ish) smoothies, and I am still trying to keep up with meat (but given budget and lifestyle, this one often slips). I have changed my midnight snacks from yogurt to eggs fried in coconut oil, and I have added brazil nuts and random nuts and seeds as my grazing option. I am getting an epsom salts bath about once a week. So far, I am sleeping through more of the night, and feeling less starved. I expect that I will feel a little off for the pregnancy, but as long as I can manage the swings somewhat I think the baby (and I) will be in better shape.
