My little 9 week old went to the naturopath for gerd. She has me putting deglyccerinated liquorice in his bottles to soothe his throat. She also has him on probiotics and has me on ACV with every meal for my gerd.

He may have to stay on them, but you can make a tea with aijwan seeds (it's an Indian spice) that may help some.  Steep 1 tbsp in a cup of hot water.  It helps more with gas than reflux, but maybe if he can reduce the gas, that will help him some.

I was going to suggest apple cider vinegar too.  before and after meals. Usually one tablespoon in a cup of water. Other than that I am not to well versed about it.

I had the worst GERD for the last week. I don't know what caused it, but I was able to remedy the situation by drinking 1 bottle of GT kombucha through the day, sipping on it between meals.

I am amazed how easily it disappeared within 24 hours. Please try it. I specifically had the gingerade flavor.

The easiest and most successful thing that worked for me was store bought GT Brand Kombucha. I had the gingerade flavor. I sipped through 1 bottle throughout the day in between meals, and the next day the GERD was gone. I was absolutely amazed.

I am now on getting ready to make kombucha at home (since reading the benefits of it on this site) and realizing how my body wants it.

I hope it helps your husband.

Kombucha is easy and delicious.  My son has been making it, and has discovered that the secondary additions. like orange juice, ginger, etc are fabulous.  Also, try using Lady Gray tea as the initial liquid, then do the secondary with oj.  Wonderful!

Does he know what's causing the GERD?  I have had GERD symptoms until I cut out dairy (I am very reactive to all dairy proteins) and I have had similar symptoms after eating things high in salicylates.  There are the common things that can cause GERD for many people (tomato, onion, citrus, chocolate, mint, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, anything carbonated, spicy food, big meals, eating within 2 hours of laying down) and I think GERD-like symptoms can exist with specific food intolerances as well (like dairy for me).  Honestly, removing the offending foods has done the most to improve/eliminate my symptoms!  In fact, I've barely suffered from reflux at all during this pg and I'm 39 weeks ;-)
