~ Food Has Power ~
My 6 year old daughter has a very low cortisol level. Other bloodwork was normal except for an elevated zinc level. We strive for a traditional food diet. She is gluten, dairy, and egg free due to sensitivities. Her main "symptoms" show in her behavior. She goes from a very hyper state to very low and tired. She still naps despite enough sleep at night. Her ND recommended ashwagandha to help adrenal function. I am wondering how to support the adrenal glands of someone so young. She also takes CLO and will drink natural calm.

I'd focus on vitamin A (liver is ideal and can be hidden in tiny amounts in spicy foods). Nettle infusions are great for B-vitamins and phytonutrients. (I use it as the liquid in smoothies.), Vit C is critical for cortisol - fresh veggies. Omega 3 - salmon (salmon cakes made with coconut flour work here).
The egg sensitivity is IgG or IgE? Have you tried raw egg yolk, separated from the white? Most people have the intolerance for the egg white, especially of GMO-soy feed chickens. Egg yolk is a very nourishing food.
Some of that energy is just child-energy. Medical science has no knowing of what is a "normal" cortisol level for a child. Testing merely compares to "others" to determine "normal values". And saliva cortisol is different than blood cortisol. I wouldn't focus on that.
Salicylates are more of an issue for ampped up energy here. Low vit A and Omega 3. Magnesium and folate (beans, greens, liver and legumes) help most.
