Hello  Everyone

I am new to this group.  Pat suggested I post my story because there are so many here who are wise and helpful and have done alot of research.

I developed candida overgrowth over 10 years ago and over time it has made me very chemically sensitive.  I have been researching ways to overcome the chemical sensitivity (my space and everything I use is scent free and chemical free) but my world seems to be getting smaller and smaller because of avoiding places and people.  Everywhere I go I am either smelling laundry stuff on peoples clothes or cigarette smoke (even if its just on their hair or clothes), or perfume/cologne.   I need to get a good handle on this before it gets worse.  I get severe migraines from these chemicals.   Recently I have read that detoxing can greatly help.  Is the inability to detox the main problem in Environmental Illness/MCS?  The inability for your organs to detox fast enough?  When I have the candida really under control, my chemical tolerance is much higher.  But when its worse, I can get one whif of someone who has walked by me after having a cigarette and instantly feel stabbing pain in my head.  I have pretty much stopped working.   Every time I work, I get migraine.  I have 4 smokers in my little office.  Even their jackets are enough chemicals to put me over.

I am eating lactofermented veggies, milk kefir, etc.   But I am pregnant right now, so I can't do much in regard to natural yeast killers.  I am taking probiotics, enzymes etc.

I also know that my chemical/mold sensitivities came from the candida, so I am hoping that when I can acheive true balance and gut healing, I can reverse the sensitivities.

What kind of things would be safe antifungals during pregnancy?  Also, are epsom salt baths ok during pregnancy.   After I have the baby, I will be able to get more agressive treating it, but right now, I need some ways to keep it from taking over.

All help, suggestions, personal experiences are much appreciated.

Thanks :-)

Well, I don't believe it is beneficial or safe to 'actively detox', especially while ttc, pregnant or nursing. But, we can support our body to detoxify itself naturally, which we do all of the time when provided the whole food nutrients needed.

More about optimizing pregnancy nutrition.

MAGNESIUM is key to 300+ biological processes in the body, including effective detoxification. Food folate (beans, greens, liver and legumes) help when we have impaired detoxification. Nettle infusions are antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, adaptogens, nutrient-dense and support natural detoxification. Nettles are great during pregnancy as they help with energy, calming and sleep too! Nettles have magnesium and folate!

Candida is a helper. Candida doesn't need to be attacked, otherwise it just returns again and again. We can rebalance the gut microbials to make candida obsolete. "Detox" cleanses can make candida more recurrent (as can sugar, inflammatory foods, heavy metals such as mercury, steroids, antibiotics, impaired stomach acid, nutrient deficiencies). Those issues can be addressed by adding whole food nutrients.

For chemical sensitivity, Sole, Epsom salt baths, magnesium, ferments will all help, ime. But, nettles are amazing!
