Eat beets. If they turn your urine pink/red, then you have low stomach acid. Stomach acid is a very important first step in digestion. Without enough, you can't absorb B12, and you have trouble absorbing zinc as well as several other nutrients. If you don't have adequate stomach acid, proteins aren't broken down properly, and so they can cause trouble in the small intestine and/or get absorbed whole into the bloodstream.

Gluten and casein are famous for being addictive because they form opiod-like substances. Stomach acid is necessary to prevent them from becoming opiods.

Histamine helps trigger the release of stomach acid. Histamine is found in several foods, especially ferments, so pile on another reason to eat ferments with every meal. Adequate zinc is also necessary to produce stomach acid (remember what's not absorbed well without it?).

Kim-chi is fabulous!! You have many ferments brewing.

I'd focus on the big three: bone broths, Nettles and green smoothies. Liver and lentils are other nutrient-dense foods to include for supporting detox pathways.

My experience is that kinesiologists vary greatly in their skills. I'm not convinced of their ability to detox, more in their ability to identify allergens to avoid. If it costs a lot, I'd focus on healing foods.

good to know. a few more questions if you don't mind...
1. what about ionized foot baths to detox (something my chiropractor recommended)?
2. how will I know when I am done detoxing and rid of my metals?
3. will liver capsules do?
4. tell me about waiting 18 months to have another baby. (i am not getting any younger) my husband and i were hoping to try for another sooner than 18 months. give me as much info on this as possible. i really appreciate it.
my best to you, kim
Foot baths won't hurt. I wouldn't pay money for them or any specialized foot bath. I've seen pro and con about it related to efficacy/scam. But, an Epsom salt bath will do as much or more and is much cheaper, imo. 2 cups Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) to a tub of warm water, soak 30 minutes daily. If it hypes you up, cut back to 1/8 cup and gradually work up.

We are always detoxing, every day, naturally. Now that I know what I do about nutrients, I'm going to always optimize that, within a busy life, iykwim.

Liver capsules are the equivalent of 1/8 teaspoon of liver, basically. Take a pinch of real liver and you get more real nutrients.

Supplements are expensive and unnecessary, imo. You need about 1-3 ounces of liver a week for significant benefits. The bit of B-vitamins in an expensive liver capsule can be gotten from a sip of nettle tea infusion for about $8 per month. Liver costs about $1 per serving and has HUGE HUGE nutritional benefits. You can hide an ounce in lasagna or chili or tacos, spaghetti sauce, etc. and everyone benefits.

With mercury removal you dump mercury in the first 24-72 hours, again at about 3-6 months and then again around 12-18 months. I wouldn't want to get pregnant while my circulating mercury levels were elevated.

You know, I just realized that I ate beets yesterday and DIDN'T have pink pee after for the FIRST TIME EVER!  I've been taking supplements to help with increasing stomach acid over the past several months (first Betaine HCL, then NOW super enzymes, and currently Dr. Ron's Pancreas supplement).  Wow!  Yay!  Yet another sign that my gut is finally healing--: )
what are ferments?

So, how "pink" does the urine have to be for it to show low stomach acid.  Are there degrees of pinkness?  We tried it, and it might give the urine a slightly more "orange" look, but I wouldn't call it pink or red.

It will vary, depending upon your recent diet somewhat also.  I'd just be sure to consume some ferments or cultures for the probiotic benefits and that will improve stomach acid. :-)

Pat

Forgive the duplication if this has been asked previously, but, what is the best way to prepare the beets for consumption?

Any way except fermented as the ferment alters the test.

I like them raw, juiced.  Roasted is yummy too.  Roast just like potatoes.  Some people peel them first.

Pat
Thanks, Pat!

If your stool turns red, but not your pee, do you have low stomach acid?
