~ Food Has Power ~
I am new here and also somewhat new to the world of natural health and all of its benefits. So, I am still learning. I had planned on following the 14 Steps For Healthy Guts. I saw the warning for Kombucha and amalgam fillings (which I have). Is there any other alternatives or thoughts for this? I am a 46 y/o male with no health problems (that I am aware of). Also do not take any type of meds. Thank you.

Brian, how many amalgam fillings do you have? Candida or brain fog? I'd focus on ADDing nutrients and other whole food probiotics and then consider an ounce of kombucha and see how you feel. Listen to your body and gradually increase it IF no "die-off" type issues.
I drink an ounce of kombucha several times a month, even with a mouthful of mercury. But, I consume many nutrient-dense foods all of the time and have been addressing any nutrient deficiencies for several years.

Pat, I have 5 rather large amalgam fillings. No brain fog or candida that I am aware of. I just recently started probiotics and more nutrients. I will start the kombucha slowly and monitor it. I am very eager to start a healthier and natural lifestyle. Including making and preseving items listed on Heal Thyself. Very eager and excited!
The past year I have been cigarette free, soda free and fast food free. I think it was a shock to my body as it seemed to take almost a year to adjust with terrible effects! I'm assuming detox and withdraw. I'm glad I found you and this community! Thanks.
So Pat, with candida, I should stay away from kombucha, correct? Sorry to take the thread over, just a quick thought when reading this.

I would just focus on adding ONE probiotic gradually per month, slowly if changing from a SAD diet. The kombucha is less important than ADDING nutrients. Detox shock can dump a lot of toxins into blood circulation and they just get moved around, instead of out. See my reply here about optimizing detoxification pathways.
Yes, be cautious with kombucha if you have candida. Candida is a clue of overwhelmed detoxification and imbalanced gut microbials. So, killing off candida just dumps MORE toxins into blood circulation. Net effect is feeling worse, not better.
