~ Food Has Power ~
My grandson is suspected of having Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders (PANDAS). At present his symptoms have included facial ticks. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to treat holistically, or resources I may look into? I appreciate any input.

Sheila

Personally, I would see our classical homeopath and acupuncturist/TCM woman for something systemic with acute manifestations. I've read about PANDAS and still believe in supporting the immune system with nutrient-dense whole foods, especially whole food probiotics to optimize the body's ability to rebalance itself.
I'd start here: http://heal-thyself.ning.com/profiles/blogs/overwhelmed-where-to-start
I'd focus on MAGNESIUM, zinc, food folate (beans, greens, liver and legumes) to support the body's detoxification system. Vit A and D, Omega 3, avoiding Omega 6. And I'd do black seed oil (nigella sativa) which is anti-inflammatory.
And avoid inflammatory foods: commercial dairy (hidden dairy), GMO-corn and GMO-soy and wheat/gluten for at least 6 weeks.
Here is a list of hidden diary: http://www.kellymom.com/store/handouts/concerns/hidden-dairy.pdf
Hidden corn: http://www.cornallergens.com/list/corn-allergen-list.php
Basically, PANDAS is considered an autoimmune disorder due to group A beta strep. I'm not keen on antibiotics, personally. Conventional therapy basically attempts to suppress the symptoms and in the process creates a new cascade of problems due to the pharmaceuticals.
I'd do some Epsom salt baths too.
