~ Food Has Power ~
Thought I'd say hello and a little bit about myself. I am a 55 year old woman living in the Blue Mtns of Australia. I have been interested in health and healthy eating for many years, but not always so good at doing it! I have introduced quite a few healthy practices over the years and managed to maintain them for the post part, probably from when I first did a liver cleansing diet many years ago (Sandra Cabot).
A couple of years ago I was introduced to Sally Fallon's "Nourishing Traditions", plus "Eat Fat to Lose Fat" by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig - both of which had a big impact on me and changed some of my eating practices. It all made such good sense to me. I also looked into the Weston A Price site at that time.
I've also explored grain free eating a bit and glycaemic load etc.
Out of all of this, I've come to the basic conclusion that the best way to eat is simply as close to nature as possible - the less processed food the better. Plus, to be aware of how we are able to digest or not digest grains etc, as well as being mindful of eating organically.
I have a daughter who has been ill with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis for the past 6 years, since she was 13 - she is now going on 20. She is still ill and we are really trying hard to use our eating lifestyle as a way to support her system and hopefully to reduce some of her symptoms. It's hard going though. I have to encourage her to recognise small gains, as it is a very slow process.
We've just done one week of the UltraMetabolism eating plan (the Simple guide one), and will continue on with the detoxing programme. Does any one else know of this? This first week has been good - full of nourishing and yummy food. We could probably do a bone broth instead of his vegie one - or a combo ...
Well, that's it from me for now.
Cheers,
Jayne
