I am wondering if anyone has any insight into any sort of connection between the two. I have had the psoriasis off and on for years now and the thyroid problem for a long time as well. My psoriasis went away while I was pregnant and I thought maybe it was the prenatal I was taking. I also took probiotics, and fish oil.  I have absolutely no sex drive but I thought that might have something to do with the 3 kids, wounded husband, and my utter tiredness. Any help would be great! angela

I have heard a link between psoriasis and gluten intolerance, which could also affect your thyroid. Have you ever had yourself tested for food allergies?
No, I haven't. I don't have any health insurance right now and doubt that I can afford that. Any way of figuring it out with out the test? Thanks, angela
I did both a blood test and then ended up also needing to do an elimination diet. (Systematically eliminating suspect foods.) It is a lot of effort, but it turned up more sensitivities /allergies than I realized. Gluten is a toughy, because it stays in your body a long time, especially if you are intolerant to it. If you can trying eliminating it and see if you notice any improvements, many people find they feel better off of it. (Skin, digestion, energy, sleep, the list goes on.) It could take a couple of weeks to show/notice a difference, especially with your skin, and sometimes it can be minor at first. But, if you're game, you might feel better in the end.

Do you live in the north? I think the winter can make psoriasis worse.  I would try the diet suggestions on this site, such as kefir and healthful fats. Also exercise and lots of sleep (which I'm sure is at a premium!). I don't know if you're on thyroid meds, but there are dietary helps for that as well.

you might check into the dermatitis form of celiac disease.  There are some major connections between celiac disease and thyroid - specifically hashimotos.  There are also connections between something called "silent celiac" and thyroid....All those symptoms sound a lot like trying to eliminate gluten would be helpful though you might get the bloodwork done just to verify before going gluten free.   a big reason to do the test (which still could come back negative -- lots of false negatives from what understand-- is so that you can claim gluten free foods as part of your medical ; however, you can do your own elimination diet and get the info on the web.  Lots of great info from Pat, lots of great info about celiac disease from so many sources.  Just make sure if you go gluten Free that you also remove the gluten from your body care.....Dessert Organics and Himalya something (blue bottles) are gluten free.  Make sure it's out of your lipstick as well, or you'll continue to injest it.  Afterglow cosmetics makes great products.  With cosmetics, there are other names besides wheat, rye, barley....so finding an actual gluten free product is the best way to go!

That book can be gotten off Amazon.  Yes, no reason to get expensive tests....and in fact, if you have no ins, you might not want to b/c you don't want a pre-exisiting condition like celiac to show up.

Good luck and hope you can find some answers!
