Hi, I have a 3 month old who has had yeast for most of his life :( Its pretty much anywhere yeast can live on a baby! mouth, neck, armpits, belly button, diaper area, and behind the knees. He also has some mild eczema, the nastiest cradle cap I've ever seen in my life, and he spits up a *lot*. He's a happy baby, gaining weight very well, and very strong and active! He was born at home, no abx in labor. I just remembered though that I did have some antibiotic eye drops for a corneal ulcer but I can't remember exactly if the white in his mouth showed up before or after. It was close to that time though. I tried GSE, lotrimin (diaper area only!) and gentian violet before going to a ND (1 week ago). She gave us each probiotics, gave me vit d (6000 iu/day) and fish oil, had me get Mother Love salve (http://www.motherlove.com/product_diaper_rash_relief.php) and recommended I severely limit all sugars in order to reduce the sugar passing through my milk so the yeast in his body starves. That really didn't make sense to me, and I was starving to death. I was constantly hungry and no amount of eating chicken/steak with vegetables was coming even close to satisfying me. The last couple days I've decided to try going off dairy, and not worry about avoiding sugars. (except the refined kind, course) i'm also making a more deliberate effort to eat more vegetables and greens. Every day I've been having a large smoothie thats about half greens (been experimenting with trying kinds i've never had before) and half berries, and adding a tbsp or so of coconut oil, and almond or rice milk for the liquid.

Sooo this is where I'm at! So far, I have not noticed one bit of improvement so this is VERY frustrating. Hopefully within a couple weeks of no dairy there'll be some change?

You are doing great. It takes time. It sounds like you are on the path to healing by eliminating dairy and sugars. Here is a long thread with a lot of information about healing YOUR gut while nursing. Basically, baby reacts to undigested proteins in your milk. The milk (soy, gluten and corn) proteins are most problematic. Stomach acid for YOU is key. And whole food probiotics are important for rebalancing gut microbials.

i thought about eliminating gluten too... but it seemed like cold turkey dairy AND gluten would be too drastic a change for me and set me up for failure. Maybe after a few weeks if there's really no change at all, I'll give it a try. I'm trying soaking for the first time though, and am getting ready to make some pancakes out of my soaked wheat!
Terrific!
