~ Food Has Power ~
I have self-diagnosed myself as having psoriasis on my hands which is spreading under my fingernails. I have been to two different dermatologists who diagnosed me as having dermatitis. Time and my symptoms have proven this cannot be true plus I have family history of psoriasis. I also believe I am developing arthritis in my hands. My fingers swell and turn bright pink.
These symptoms started a little before my son was born and got much, much worse after he was born in April 2008. During this pregnancy, I was given two (2!!) rounds of Azithromycin. My digestive system has never been the same since and I need help healing it. I feel that is what has caused my psoriasis. I never have had health issues before this pregnancy plus the antibiotics.
I recently came across a book at my library called "Healing Psoriasis" by John O. A. Pagano, D.C. This book is fascinating and I often find myself saying "YES!" to a lot of what he explains. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Also, in my quest for healing I have come across recommendations for GAPS diet and traditional foods. I have implemented a lot of what is taught but I find that fermented foods strongly affect me. My psoriasis flares, my skin cracks and my digestive system goes haywire. Also, bone broths have caused the same issues.
Should I really abandon wheat, nightshades, raw dairy and many fats in favor of an alkaline diet? What is your experience?
Also, we are on a VERY tight budget and have been since August (husband laid off.) What is the best advice for following an alkaline diet while not spending more?
Many thanks!
