Nut allergies have a high risk of progressing to anaphylaxis, a life-threatening allergic reaction. Many people have a cross-reactivity to the similar proteins in all tree nuts: almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, chestnuts, pine nuts, Macadamia nuts and pistachio nuts.
Cashews are the second most common nut allergy. Cashews are closely related to pistachio nuts, mango and poison ivy allergies.

Change is hard. Not impossible though. I am gearing up to clean up the kitchen and our meals. I need to. How many years of "needing to"? Just made a batch of sauerkraut, and despite my initial concerns of it being to salty, it is just right! Whooo hooo! Got Kraut!
I can't believe the probiotic tubs of it sell for $5 in our co-op. Sheesh. It's just cabbage! I used some of the brine from the co-op batch to get some of the lactobacillus in. Not sure if that is useful or not. I was sort of thinking along the lines of yogurt making.

Sometimes changes takes years. I can see I've been circling the healing diet for several years, waiting for something to help make it easier to abstain from certain foods. I've used my role as mom (chef), finances, life stress, etc to avoid change: "Nobody will eat this, I'll eat alone all the time, I'll have to cook two meals (mine and theirs), I don't have money for all the veg I'd go through, I can't handle this right now!"
