~ Food Has Power ~
I recently read about chlorella and coriander (cilantro) not being good enough for heavy metal detox/chelation. I've looked for this info so I can share with a friend currently dealing with mercury issues but cannot find it. Can anyone help please?
Many thanks,
Jacquie

I've had a lot of luck w/those foot detoxes at a wellness type clinic. They are typically inexpensive too. I would still consume cilantro/chlorella as well :) Hope that is helpful.
Thank you, that. Thing is, she'd breast feeding, and is looking into the safest way to get rid of the mercury without it dumping into her baby's milk. She's taking chlorella, but I read somewhere it does not help eliminate it well, meaning it re-deposits in organs as well as breast milk as it tries finding it's way out? I just want to offer her concrete info with references so she can read up and work into healing herself rather than doing as told by a nutritionist and it not being the best way IYSWIM.
I have never researched heavy metal toxicity to any great length, however I've read about others who have and they swear by a book by a Dr. Andy Cutler. I've never read it, again, just repeating something from those who appeared way more knowledgeable about this subject than I. Good luck.
I do not have an answer now, but I may be able to give some input soon:
I have used chlorella cosnsitently and am going to have a heavy metal test.
That should give me some idea.
talk to you soon

Thanks all! Max, that would be great if you could share your experience!
Dr. Andy Cutler cautions against the use of chlorella for a similar reason --something like - those that have severe metal toxicity will get sicker.....Again, they're swearing by this doc. HTH...
I sure will, Jacqueline,
As for Dr. Cutler's caution, I wonder whether chlorella is the only such chelating agent
This is an index to Cutler's replies regarding mercury and chelation. (scroll down about 1/2 way)
Breastmilk is a detox pathway. You don't want to detox mercury into breastmilk.
Chelation: The Andy Cutler protocol
Additionally, chelating with ANY mercury fillings still present is seriously dangerous.
Chelating products include those which mobilize mercury from stored locations, into the blood circulation, but do not bind it for safe excretion:
chlorella and coriander
DMSA
DMPS
ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid)
whey
protein powder (cysteine),
glutathione
BAL
penicillamine
EDTA

Thank you so very much, Pat,
I am scheduled to take my DMSA challenge test tomorrow, but after reading Dr Cutler's info, I am going to investigate further and i am certainly postponing the test now.
thank you again
Max
I would not do a DMSA challenge with mercury in my mouth. And I really don't see any benefit to doing a challenge just to mobilize mercury either.
Pat
Thank you for the info guys.
Pat, Is the Cutler book online somewhere? I have such a long list of books to buy on my wishlist, it'll take me a while to get them all, but thank heavens for the ones online! I'd appreciate the link if so.
