Thanks Pat! This is yet another fantstic idea you've had. I have been following your posts on mothering long enough...lol. I hope to really get focused and clear here, I'm grateful for this community!

    Pat,
I put a post up yesterday and haven't received any response. Maybe I put it in the wrong place. I put it under the candida heading because I couldn't find one for metal detox, and I also have candida issues. Should I put it under a different topic?
    Julie :)
  • Julie

    Okay, thanks Pat.

    Hey Pat!

Here is my mini update after seeing the homeopath:

    http://heal-thyself.ning.com/forum/topics/healing-leaky-gut-with-food?page=4&commentId=2814160%3AComment%3A2341&x=1#2814160Comment2341

I didn't *love* him (personality wise), but I'm very hopeful that the treatments he's recommending will help River...

    Lauren :)
  • Lauren

He told me to continue daytime nursing, but to try nightweaning. I can see how they'd be getting less toxins in w/ less nursing if their getting it through our milk...I'm certainly not ready to think a/b weaning though (I will when River initiates it...), but I'm glad to hear that's not what *you* recommend.

River actually slept all night w/out waking to nurse last night, so maybe the homeopathic remedies + the diet changes are making changes in that way?? We'll see if it continues! I was shocked when I woke this morning to my still-sleeping little man! It's really not something I've cared about or felt needed to change, but if it happens (sleeping most of the night w/out waking to nurse) I'll be ok with it! ;)

Thank you for checking w/ your homeopath about the recs. I received--I'll keep you posted on our progress!!!

    Thanks again!

    Lauren :)
  • Lauren

Ahhh--I'm so frustrated. Thank you so much for your input and for checking with your homeopath. Here is the homeopath's background: http://drpeechatt.webs.com/drPeechatt.html He's also a natauropath, so maybe that is where the other treatment is coming from?

So maybe I should find a different 'classical' homeopath? That is what he calls himself...I know we have a couple others in the area, but I don't know anything about them. I'm wondering if I should discontinue the treatments then--River slept all night last night again--which is not my goal at all, but something I've been surprised by and was *hoping* was a sign that his gut is healing...Arg! I'm not sure what is going on...

Thanks Pat--I've got lots to think about and look into!

    >>>What I read about the Carbo Vegetabilis does sound appropriate for underlying GI issues. I'd feel comfortable taking that alone, along with the dietary changes and see how he continues to improve.<

Re-reading, I see what your recs. are Pat--thank you.

    >>>And symptomatic treatment is such a Westernized perspective to be inseparable to comprehend an alternative way.<

Yes--he did not seem to care as much about all of the little details I shared with him that make up River--the idiosyncrasies you mentioned I share--which really bothered me. His psychology background may be where the allopathic mindset is coming from.

    >>>Our homeopath trusts that homeopathy works without changing any other variables. <

This makes a lot of sense to me.

I think I'll make an appt. with someone else to get a 2nd opinion.

    Thanks again Pat! Ahhh!

Pat, could you shoot me your phone # so I can call you next week about the kefir grains?

    Thanks,
    Julie
  • Julie

    Pat,
I wanted to come by this week to get some kefir grains from you, but I've been sick. I'm hoping to come by next week. I just wanted to let you know I'm still interested, just not feeling well.

    Julie :)
  • got greens?

Pat, you have created a wonderful thing here - Thank You!
  • Lauren

    Hey Pat!

I've been thinking of getting a 2nd opinion on River's homeopathic treatment. We have one other 'classical homeopath' locally, but I'm finding it hard to find any info a/b him. I'd love to speak w/ someone I *know* others have felt was helpful. I was wondering if there was any possibility your homeopath does phone consults, and if she'd be willing to one w/ someone from NY. LMK what you think! Or if you know anyone who has someone to recommend in upstate NY...

    TIA!!!

    Lauren :)

    Hi Pat!

I LOVE the water kefir! It tastes delicious! The grains are multiplying really fast! I'm not having as much luck with the milk kefir grains though. I wonder if I did anything wrong. They're just not multiplying. Do you have any advice on that?

    Thanks,
    Julie :)
  • Lauren

    Pat,

I think we've found someone who could be an amazing homeopath to see living not too far from us. Panserbjorne on MDC gave her the thumbs up (she knows her) so I think we're going to try and see her. (Her name is Joette Calabrese, and here's her info if you want to check her out: http://homeopathyworks.net/bio.html )
So please don't worry about my last comment on here re: homeopathy.

I hope you are doing well, and that all has gone/is going as smoothly as possible with everything.

    I'm thinking of you!!! (((HUGS)))

    Lauren :)

HI pat, is it just me, im finding the forum threads a bit mixed up?what are the main headings and topics? or is it all just random posts and replies?
  • Ruya

yes i have clicked on forum Pat, but like for instance how your response to my comment went straight to my page and its not visible as a continuous thread. i find the threads hard to follow because of this. Is there anyone else out there that is finding this?
  • linda keeper rn

Pat, I saw on the CL group that you had some dietary advice about tooth strength. Is there a discussion here that I can look at?
  • daniela srajer

Basically with you body's pH at ideal 7.5 disease can not occur
  • daniela srajer

Oh yes Pat, i had breast cancer. The book recommended by my doc is " THE ACID ALKALINE FOOD GUIDE" A quick reference to foods & their effect on pH levels. Dr. Susan E. Brown & Larry Trivieri, Jr. There are many books on the subject out there, however this is it, he says :)

    Thanks Pat!
I love how knoweldgeable and passionate everyone here seems, but to be honest, I'm in completely over my head. I don't even know where to begin or what to ask.

hi pat, i would like to have some of the water kefir grains. i am in canada but close to the border and could get them sent to us if it is easier for you. thank you SOOO much. michelle
  • Pat Robinson

Apparently, sending international has some obstacles. Cultures for Health has a system for doing so. The grains have to be dried. My grains are fresh with liquid. And there is some delay issues with customs. So, they wouldn't be fresh by the time they arrived, I believe.

Thanks Pat for the info. I am not positive for BRCA1 & am not Jewish, so this is less likely to be a factor for me, although it's interesting. Not sure what you meant by Supplemental 5-MTHFR is an alternative? Assuming that this has to do with methylation?
  • Jamie LaPrairie

    Hello Pat!

Sorry that I missed the MNO-my youngest son was sick. I really hope to make the next one. I wanted to talk with you about kefir. I heard you talking about it at the MNO. I purchased some kefir milk from the store and have been using it (mixing it in a smoothie), but am interested in the water kefir. Could you tell me a little bit about it...is it difficult to grow in culture at home? How often do you consume it? Do you give it to your son? Do you drink it plain (just in the water) or do you mix it with other things? Would love to hear your ideas about it. Thanks.
  • Jamie LaPrairie

    Pat,

Also-thanks for creating such a great site!!! It is just what I have been looking for :)

    Poison Ivy
baking soda and oatmeal put on in a paste, and then remove with very hot water.
put the inside of a banana peel on it

This site has natural remedies from the kitchen, homeopathic remedies, etc:

    Hi Pat,
Glad to join you here! As far as SBI goes, we purchased it a couple of years ago. We have learned a tremendous amount in that time and have also explored other "coursework" which helped us feel confident in SBI. The process can be challenging at times and we are not all the way through it. Overall I do like SBI so far...our site is being found and it is up to us to continue through to the end of the process. I appreciate the ability to post our blog here as well as our site in the sig line.

    Much appreciated,
    Amy Lewis

Hi! If you go to the google page, and then click on the "more" menu there is an alert area, then you can be emailed for any new mentions of a word or phrase. Like you, I have been interested in finding balance with what feels like many issues, and I am frustrated that I have not been able to do it solely with food. Thanks for building a great community, I hope to be able to learn more and contribute as well :D

Thanks Pat! I just got this working, as I haven't yet been on the site, that was the problem. Although I did send you and email about the problem that I am experiencing right now. Thanks for all you do! You are very knowledgeable and giving!

Hi Pat. I love this exchange of information. I'm just on the other side of 30 years of candida woes, thanks to heal-thyself. The mercury connection is blowing my mind. My baby teeth were full of amalgam, and so were my adult ones. I'm now down to 4, as the fillings broke down they have been replaced with plastic. I like that I can honour the candida overgrowth as a protector, not curse as an unwanted pest.

How do I start an "about me"? Is it on my page? I'd like to balance the anemia (of no obvious origin) and occasional mild hot flashes that I experience. And then there's the concerns of my husband and children!

Thanks so much for this Pat. Mercedes
