How did you learn about the "Heal Thyself" site?

What does "holistic" mean to you?
Emcompasing mind, body, and spirit. Living your life simple and pure by eating whole, organic foods, using food as the energy your body needs to run efficiently and effectively. Thinking positively and clearing your mind of those nasty "cluttering" thoughts. And last but not least, loving to exercise because it makes you feel and look beautiful!
How long have you been interested in holistic living?
My whole life. As a child I always questioned things and wondered about the way we live our lives but the grown-ups just kept telling me "A little bit won't hurt you"... I have been a Holistic Lifestyle Coach (Through Paul Chek) for about 2 years now. I cleaned up my diet and lifestyle slowly, as I have a lot to heal. But I am living pretty clean now.
a little about me
I am almost 46 now, toned, and in good shape. I have never been heavy although I struggled with gut problems all my life. In H.S. I was diagnosed with spastic colon, irritable bowl syndrome and colitis. At the time I was a HUGE candy eater!

When I was 21 I was driving a car and broadsided in the driver's side door by a motorcyclist. I was in a coma/semi-comatose for 2 months. I had (all on the Left side) a head injury (Left temporal lobe), broken collar bone, broken scapula, 3 broken ribs, punctured lung, my spleen was ruptured, a lacerated kidney and liver. I had chest tubes, a trach, feeding tubes, and was on lots of drugs and pain killers.

They took me off of all meds and tubes, I almost died, but woke up the next day. I was less then 80 lbs. I immediately went to a rehab facility, Marionjoy, and lived there for a month.

I only missed 1 semester of college, went back to school, graduated Cum Laude from NIU. I got married and then went into a depression, started getting seizures, and had 5 or 6 hospitalizations with bowel obstructions. Only one more surger for that, the others were just a weeks stay with an NG tube.

Since then I was constantly at the doctors, getting anti-biotics, seizure meds, anti-depressents.

Today however, I am no longer on ANY MEDS!!! I haven't been to the doctors in one or two years, nor have I had a cold or flu. I am very proud :)
Professional or business affiliations?
I am a Personal Trainer, a Holistic Lifestyle Coach, and I am Muscle Activation Technique Jumpstart Certified. I love what I do, although my degree is in Graphic Arts.

Janet, what an amazing journey! Wow! You are strong and have a survivor energy! Thank you for joining us. I'd love to hear more about your recovery from the medical paradigm. Consider writing up your story on a blog post and we'll feature it.

Congratulations! It is rewarding to hear about your recovery as I was an ICU nurse for years. We only saw people at their worst and they moved out, but rarely did we see people once they were better and strong again. Your story is frightening and inspiring.
    Thank you for sharing.
