Okay, here's my theory. I propose that morning sickness/hyperemesis gravidum (am I even spelling that right?) is caused by high circulating progesterone, and somehow made worse by high estrogen. The cause of such high levels is related to impaired breakdown, caused by blocked detox pathways, specifically sulfation (for progesterone) and methylation (for estrogen).

Evidence:
impaired liver function, oxidative stress, and low levels of glutathione are associated with HG.
high progesterone and high estrogen are associated with HG.
sulfation is responsible for breaking down steroid hormones
methylation is responsible for breaking down estrogen
B6 is supposed to help with HG, but doesn't in all cases
B6 is necessary for generation of cysteine (transsulfuration) and for sulfoxidation, both of which are required to make sulfate
vitamin C improves glutathione levels, which frees up cysteine for sulfation.
That's pretty funny. Everything for me seems to come back to glutathione in some way, shape or form. I wonder if that's pointing to low cysteine or something else?
Since we know my sulfation is terrible (due to a lack of sulfur), I'd bet that's the cause for me, although it may have been started off by methylation getting overloaded and then worsened because then I couldn't take my supplements.
I think maybe glutathione is just a more common marker to look at. Pubmed had nothing when I searched 'hyperemesis sulfate.'

Have you tried epsom salts yet?
I've been taking an Epsom salt bath once a week. I'd try a pinch of Epsom salts in water as Pat's suggested but I don't know when to drink it and I'm kind of scared to right now, tbh. I did the taste test and it tasted like wetter water, with a slight aftertaste but not bad at all.
Sulfate isn't absorbed well in the gut anyway, so it'd just be for the magnesium... Which is what the test is supposed to be testing anyway.
