Essential Oil Safety, SKin Patch Test and Dilution Chart

Essential oils are safe to use as long as you follow the recommended dosage, and research the contraindications before you use them. Essential oils are more potent than the herbs, so less amount is needed

in order to achieve the desired effect. Never use the oils undiluted on

the skin. The exceptions are tea tree and lavender, which can be

used in tiny amounts on stings, wounds or a small burn.

I highly recommend that you do your research when you use essential oils,…

aromatherapy treatment may reduce stress and ease discomfort felt

during pregnancy. Essential oils can provide a positive and relaxing

feeling for the expecting mother.…

New Here...

But I see some familiar faces :)

I started a group for Compassionate Eating (Vegans & Vegetarians) and started a discussion on Vegan Supplements in it :) Heavily on my mind lately, as dh & I have other issues we use vitamins and supplements for. Now if I can get him taking his stuff regularly I'd be much happier.

I like the vibe here and can't wait to see it blossom into a larger community.

Wondering if someone I know would come here and…

"Cleanses"

CLEANSES - The issue with cleanses is related to opening detoxification pathways in order not to just mobilize toxins (including mercury which binds with candida to sequester it) and releasing the toxins into the bloodstream to redeposit into your or your child's brain, organs, gut (or fetus and breastmilk as is the case for pregnant, and nursing women).

Here is a basic explanation…

Alternatives to Sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup

Almost everything you buy in the store today has some kind of sweetener in it. It is almost impossible to purchase something that is not sweetened

with high fructose corn syrup. Trying to raise a healthy child can be

challenging when it is hard to find real food.

Even though the organic products are…

Red Raspberry Leaf

Brewed as a tea or as an infusion, raspberry is the best known, most widely used, and safest of all uterine and pregnancy tonic herbs. It contains fragrine, an alkaloid which gives tone to the muscles of the

pelvic region, including the uterus itself.

Staying Healthy During Times of Stress

I'm writing this while taking a break from packing. My family and I are in the midst of getting ready to move 1400 miles away in only a few days. Lately, I have been really pondering how we can maintain our health and during this time of transition. After all, cooking is very challenging when trying to use up the pantry and freezer without replenishing supplies. Eating and cooking whole foods is more difficult when time is short, and equipment is slowly being packed up.

However,… Continue

Conviction

[written my Karen Jensen, October 31, 2009, reposted with permission]

Shortly after Scout was born she began to have some serious health problems. The only thing that I could do as her mother was to take her to the doctor - time and time again - and use the information that they gave me as a springboard for learning . . . I dug and I dug deep.

It all began with DHA/ARA. Everywhere you look baby formula and food says that is has added dha/ara for brain and eye development.… Continue
